Type 304 stainless steel is an alloy comprising of 18% chromium and 8% nickel which provides good protection against corrosion and oxidation. Best used in areas of moderate exposure.
Type 316 stainless steel, although like the alloy composition found with 304, also contains 2% molybdenum which makes it considerably more resistant to corrosion and oxidation than the 304 alloy. Best used in areas of high exposure areas, such as within a 7-mile radius of the sea.
